Yard Sale ReCap!

by Jamie on September 7, 2009

This is what my tables look liked 1/2 through the sale. I started with three tables and here I’m down to two.

I took this picture with about an hour left to go. A few more people showed up and bought a couple razors, deodorant, and shampoo, but basically this is what I had left at the end of the day.

My Yard Sale Grand Total Profit- $280! For a one-day, unadvertised yard sale I think I did pretty well!!! I had three tables full of stuff and at the end of the sale everything I had left fit on one table.

Items I sold out of:
Glade Aerosol Spray ($0.50 each)
Febreze Noticeable Spray ($1.00 each)
Lysol Neutra Air Sprays ($0.50 each; in hindsight I should’ve charged $1.00!)
Oust Air Sanitizer Spray ($1.00 each)

Air Wick Ultra ($3.00 each)
Air Wick Mini ($2.00 each)
Air Wick Flameless Candles-($3.00 each)
Glade Flameless Candles ($3.00 each)
Lysol Neutra Air Freshmatic ($3.00; cut a deal for $2 each)
Glade Scented Oil Candle Refills ($1.00 each)
Glade Scented Gel Plug-Ins-($0.50 each)
Glade Fabric and Air Odor Eliminator Spray ($1.50 each)

Johnson & Johnson To-Go First Aid Kits ($0.50)
Johnson Buddy Soaps ($0.50 each)
Huggies Body Wash/Lotion ($2; however I cut a deal w/ a couple who bought $30 worth of stuff)

Garnier Shampoo/Conditioner-($1.00 each)
Pantene Shampoo/Conditioner ($1.00 each)
Olay Bar Soap (2 pack)-($1 each)

Items that Sold Well, But I didn’t sell out of:
Deodorant ($1.00 each; various kinds-the Adidas was the first to go)
Shaving Cream ($1.00 each; men’s and women’s)
Country Time Lemonade Containers-$1.00 each;had one left)
Scrubbing Bubbles Flushable Wipes- ($1.00 each; had one left)

Items That Didn’t Sell Well
Razors ($4 Fusion Power (sold 3-4); $3 Fusion w/out Battery (sold 1); $4 Intuition (sold 3); $3.00 Bic razors/refills; sold 3-4)
Kotex Liners ($0.50 each; sold 3-4)
Glade Scented Candle Holder ONLY ($1.00 each; sold 3-4)
Pledge Furniture Wipes ($1.00 each; sold 2-3)
Splenda Tablets ($0.50 each; sold 2)
Just For Men Hair Color ($0.50; sold none)

Everything went really well, no horror stories here! I believe I only had three people who haggled for a lower price and I gave it to them. A handful of people asked where all my stuff came from and I just told them that I like to shop and use coupons and that I didn’t have any more room in my house to store the stuff. I also had a few people comment how they had never seen cleaning and health and beauty items at a yard sale, but that it was such a good idea. The people who realized the great deal they were getting seemed to buy at least $20 worth.

My co-worker is thinking of having another yard sale at the end of the month. I still have a ton of stuff that I just didn’t have time to get together and price for this sale. So, I may be back at this again at the end of the month.

So, what am I doing with the $280.00? First thing, I put aside $28.00 (10%) to give as a tithe to our church, then I took DH out for his birthday, and the remaining money is going towards my BHAG!
