Garden Update: My Mini Bounty

by Jamie on August 31, 2010

This morning I decided I had waited long enough and I started picking!  I picked 2 bell peppers (which are a lot smaller than I hoped), 3 jalapenos, 4 banana peppers, and two teeny onions.

There are lots of bell peppers left to pick, I’m holding off hoping they’ll get larger!

Anyone planting a fall garden?  What should I be planting now?

You can plant tomatoes or zucchinis. They are really fast growing plants. I like your mini bounty harvest! All of your peppers are really cute. I want to see more from your mini garden. Lol.

Anything is better than nothing, Jamie. :-) Plant some fast growing things like spinach and lettuce as well as the others people mentioned. Garlic is traditionally fall planted to ripen the next June-July and it's fun to grow and braid. Let us know what you decide, and thanks for linking up!

I often get some tiny peppers too. In the past that is all I've gotten, but this year we had some really nice heat to make those peppers grow.

I am! You can plant sugar and snow peas, radishes, carrots, spinach, kale, swiss chard, cabbage, and lots more. Some will overwinter so you get a head start in the spring. I also plan to plant some garlic, horseradish and Jerusalem artichokes(if I can find them!) after the first frost for spring growth(kinda like you plant flower bulbs in the fall for spring blooms).

That sounds good- I like peas and carrots and maybe some cabbage and spinach. I can do without the artichokes though ;)
