The purpose of the CVS $5 Challenge is to come up with the best scenarios (up to 3 transactions) for the upcoming week using the current weekly ad.  The goal is to keep the total out of pocket expense $5 or less, while still growing your Extra Care Bucks.

I am assuming that you are starting out with ZERO extra bucks.  If you’re starting out with Extra Bucks, great!, your OOP will be very small (maybe even zero)!

Just starting out?  For more information on the abbreviations used, please see my Coupon Abbreviations post. For additional information about shopping at CVS, check out my CVS 101 post.

Here’s what I would do if I were just starting….

Transaction 1
Buy 3- Dentyne Pure, Stride Shift or Trident Layers- $0.99; get $0.99 EB  (Limit 1 EB)
-use $2/3 Gum and Candy (8/8 SS)
= $0.97/3; get $0.99 EB

Buy 1-High Octane Energy Chews (3ct)- $1.99; get $1.99 EB
Note: This is a monthly deal, the limit is Two (2), but you’ll need to purchase them in separate transactions to get both EB.
