Truthfully, I’ve been neglecting my garden over the past couple weeks. Until yesterday I hadn’t check whether progress had been made (or if the whole garden had died off..). Despite my neglect and lack of watering I was surprised to find that things going so well.
Even though they’re only about 2 inch big, I picked 8 peppers.
And check this out… a tomato? seriously? come on… I waited ALL season for you… and you decide you’re not going to grow until SEPTEMBER?

And then, I found a whole new batch a jalapeno peppers growing! The banana peppers look like they’re ready for round two also!

This morning I decided I had waited long enough and I started picking! I picked 2 bell peppers (which are a lot smaller than I hoped), 3 jalapenos, 4 banana peppers, and two teeny onions.
There are lots of bell peppers left to pick, I’m holding off hoping they’ll get larger!
Anyone planting a fall garden? What should I be planting now?

There’s not much happening in the garden this week. I’m pretty much playing a waiting game with my beautiful green peppers. They are growing little by little each week… and I’m so impatient!!
But in other garden news, we have some visitors that have taken up residence in the backyard…..

Sweet huh?
And because this is a garden update I guess I’ll included some garden pictures too :)
The peppers are getting so heavy that I’ve had to figure out a way to prop them up!
I’ll be picking jalapenos soon! Yum!

I woke up one morning last week and found this…

So it’s a little hard to tell from the picture, but SOMETHING got into my garden bed. See the green strings? Those green strings use to plot out my perfectly square, square foot garden.
And two of my squash plants were torn out by the roots…. well, kinda.
Oh well, those squash plants were on their last leg anyway… and luckily NO peppers were harmed in the sabotage.
And as soon as it’s not 100 degrees outside, the rest of the squash plants are coming out. For one, they are looking puny and two, they are attracting the most icky creatures like STINK BUGS and Beetles! Seriously, ya’ll this stuff grosses me out.
Can somebody tell me, are those stinkbug eggs in my picture??
And, about beetles (aka ladybugs) are they harming my plants? Should I be spraying them with something?
Eck!
Let’s move on to more happy things, like peppers, shall we?
Aren’t they pretty? The pepper are coming along nicely. Though none of them are quite ready to picked yet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that nothing tragic happens…
So please, tell me how your garden doing?

This is a picture of all the zucchini and squash I harvested this past week. I’ve pulled several of the squash plants up already as they were getting a bit unruly and frankly I’ve had all the squash I care to eat this season! Anyone else feeling this way?

My bell pepper plants are doing wonderful and I hope they will be ready to pick in the next week or two! I can’t believe how fast they are growing!

My banana peppers are in full swing too, though I’m not quite sure what to do with them when they are ready to be harvested? Ideas?

My jalapenos are looking good too. There are three of them that are about ready to be picked and smoothed in cream cheese. :)
How’s your garden coming along?
